2014 Volkswagens are leaving the factory and heading to shipping ports world-wide. There are some updates for the 2014 models and trims that you, as consumers, should know and be excited about!
The biggest change in the 2014 Volkswagen models will be the switch to the 1.8L Turbo Charged 4-cylinder engine that will replace the old VW 2.5L 5- cylinder engine. The good news is, there will not be any loss in power because both engines have identical horsepower ratings. The turbo-charged engine is said to offer a smooth and slightly better delivery. Another positive of the VW engine is the smaller and lighter engine will also offer better gas milage.
Good news for Jetta lovers, the 2014 Volkswagen Jetta models will get an independent rear suspension, which will greatly transform driving dynamics for the better. Volkswagen had previously gotten rid of the IRS, but VW Jetta enthusiasts should be happy to see it back.
The R-Line is another update for 2014. Volkswagen is expanding its R-line into the Tiguan and the Touareg. The R-line in the Beetle will be replacing the Turbo VW Beetle.
One of the most exciting updates to 2014 VW Models is the addition of Car-Net. This is Volkswagen’s integrated connectivity system. The system will be available on the Volkswagen Beetle, Beetle Convertible, CC, Eos, Jetta, Passat, and Tiguan models. VW Car-Net offers security and convenience features such as crash notification, roadside assistance, and stolen vehicle location assistance. VW Car-Net also adds remote vehicle access, a vehicle health report, speed alerts, and an improved POI service on models with navigation. VW Car-Net and its features can be accessed with a smartphone app.
